Introduction, One-Year Schedule & Two-Year Schedule (by Music Comes Alive)
In this Learn to Play set, we include an Introduction that provides helpful tips on how to use the Learn to Play set, as well as a One-Year Schedule and Two-Year Schedule to make it easy to stay on track. The One-Year and Two-Year Schedules are structured in a similar way to our Primary and Elementary curricula. The schedule follows a 34 week schedule for each academic year, with two December weeks intended to be used whenever you reach the beginning of December (Weeks 13 & 14, labeled DEC in the Month column). The One-Year Schedule takes 34 weeks, and the Two-Year Schedule takes 68 weeks. Choose the schedule that best suits your family.
Aulos 3-Piece Student Soprano Recorder (Ivory) with Cloth Carrying Bag, Fingering Chart & Cleaning Rod
The recorder is a woodwind instrument that dates back to the Medieval era. Like all woodwinds, it is played by blowing air through the instrument. The Aulos 3-Piece Student Soprano Recorder (Ivory) that comes with this set is a superior student instrument, with an improved windway that makes it easier to play high and low notes, a comfortably placed sound hole for the right-hand little finger, and a convenient adjustable thumb rest.
Recorder for Beginners: An Easy Beginning Method (with CD)
by Susan Lowenkron
Recorder for Beginners is designed as an independent study for learning the recorder. The author does not assume the student (or parent) has prior musical knowledge. This book presents each note-reading concept in a step-by-step manner and carefully explains basic recorder techniques. Before you start the lessons with your student, consider reading the “Introduction” and “History of the Recorder” on page 3 in the book.
From the publisher:
This book teaches everything you need to know to get started playing the recorder. Beginning with how to hold the instrument and make a sound, through reading music and basic technique, you'll be guided all the way to articulation, dynamics, and composing. With pieces in styles ranging from ethnic folk tunes to Renaissance dances and classical symphonic melodies, this book is a fun method for learning to play this very accessible and enjoyable instrument. The CD includes exercises and songs.
